About us

Yarra Pistol Club

The Club grounds cover approximately 10 acres. The facilities include nine indoor / outdoor shooting ranges, a large indoor air pistol range, a substantial clubhouse including a kitchen & bar and a large car park.

We currently have around 200 members, that are welcome to use the ranges for target shooting practice and competitions.
Our ranges are open 9am - 6pm (or sunset) Monday to Saturday and 12pm - 6pm (or sunset) on Sundays. Our air pistol range is normally open 24/7.

We shoot over 20 different competitions, using many different types of firearms.
New members are encouraged to watch all types of competitions (matches) and decide which one suits them best.

Established in May 1959

We are thankful for the work done in the late 1970's to build Yarra Pistol Club on the new site. Our former site was on the other side of the tip. The tip wanted to expand, so the government wanted us to move to the other side. Lead by Clive Whelan, the club secured the land along with a commitment from the council to level the ground for the carpark and ranges.

Our members worked every weekend over two years (without firing a shot!), with much of the material and all of the labour donated for free.

Please enjoy some of the old photos.
